We are out...

...and boy does it feel good. It's so hard to keep secrets sometimes, especially when they are good secrets. Secrets you want to shout from the roof tops. The ones you can barely stop smiling about. Like being engaged, or getting a new job, or being pregnant!! Those are all the good kinds of secrets! Most people don't keep them quiet for  long, but being pregnant is another story.

Many women keep quiet until 12 weeks or more for fear of miscarriage. It's happened to a friend of mine. She announced early with her first-in a Christmas card, only to suffer a miscarriage just after Christmas. It was so hard on her to get the calls of congratulations, only to have to tell them the news. My heart still aches for her having to go through that horrible time.

We've kept quiet for the last 8 weeks for that same reason-fear. But, I'm thrilled to say that as of tomorrow, we have reached the 12 week mark. This week, I posted this picture

to Facebook to share with friends and family who hadn't already been told. To be honest, I'd found a similar picture on a friends wall, but the last picture was of a 8-10 month old baby. I thought it was HILARIOUS!! Growing up and knowing the song "Ice, Ice, Baby" very well, I caught on right away. I told the hubby that I was going to announce to FB with the above picture.

And that's just what we did!! :) We were flooded with congratulations and well wishes, and people's thoughts on gender. (MANY are hoping for a girl, we are good with healthy.)

So tonight, we were making treats for the hubby's coworkers. I'd found a great idea for pink brownies on Pinterest to make for Valentine's Day. I took the opportunity tonight to try out the recipe. When we were going over the plans for the treats, I mentioned we should write on them in blue frosting "or boy? EDD 7/23/13" and leave it at that. We tossed around a few ideas for the label- Strawberry "Pregnant" Brownies, "Pregnant" Strawberry Brownies and then finally we came up with "Due Date Brownies". They aren't the prettiest. In hind-sight, I'd make a different frosting for them. This one was similar to the frosting they put on cookies.

All this announcing is a little tiring! But, it's very worth it to have people we love finally know.

PS: Yes, this was a surprise!
PPS: We are finding out the sex, and we really don't care what we get-healthy is perfect.
PPSS: We don't have much luck of a girl, there are 10 grandkids on Jason's side and NINE are boys! We have ours and another one due June 19th, so maybe we can get two girls to start evening things out.
